Definitely 1978, though, before Christmas, and definitely long enough before Nice Guys for it to build some momentum through touring, airplay, etc. That band had a pretty big niche following, had a buzz. Not necessarily a niche that was "fashionable" then or now, but a niche nevertheless, and one that bought a lot of records as they were released. This I'm fairly certain of.
