Christiern Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 I just posted the first installment of a series of interviews I did with Sam Wooding in 1975 It is several hours long, the first part is 90 minutes and deals with Sam's early years, up to about 1918. Here's a direct link. Quote
GA Russell Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 Chris, I'm not familiar with him, so I've looked him up on Wikipedia. It sounds like he led an interesting life, professionally. I see that notes of yours are mentioned as a reference. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Wooding Quote
EKE BBB Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 (edited) Amazing stuff, Chris! Thanks for sharing. I hope that, in following chapters, he will tell something about his stays in Spain in 1926 and 1929 as part of his Europeans tours. I am doing extensive research on the chronology and details of this part of his life through the archives of several Spanish newspapers and radio stations. BTW, have you contacted the Jazz Oracle troupe? They're preparing a Sam Wooding compilation with his European recordings and your interviews could be an essential research tool. AllenLowe Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 thanks Chris; I have the Biograph LP you did the notes to (I believe); also have read Chip DeFaa's profile of Wooding. Quote
Christiern Posted February 21, 2012 Author Report Posted February 21, 2012 I have now posted Part II of Sam Wooding's recollections in his own words. Here he takes us up to 1923. Quote
