BERIGAN Posted March 18, 2012 Report Posted March 18, 2012 It's on at 3 AM EST tonight/tomorrow morning...have to shamefully admit I've never heard of it before! Anyone that's seen it, what say you??? I love the idea of seeing a phonograph facility in the early 30's, though I imagine it is someone like Modern Times, its going to exaggerate the operations, and won't be exactly what a record factory was like then.... D: Rene Clair. Raymond Cordy, Henri Marchand, Rolla France, Paul Olivier, Jacques Shelly, Andre Michaud. Classic satire on machinery and industrialization centering on the adventures of escaped prisoner Cordy, who becomes owner of a phonograph factory, and his former jail friend (Marchand), now a vagrant. Predates and equals MODERN TIMES in poignancy, with groundbreaking use of music. Arguably, Clair's masterpiece. More info... Quote
Bill Nelson Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 I'd love to throttle TCM's schedulers. The Rene Clair masterpiece they show at 3 am. "Our research shows you arty types are still up a that hour." At the prime time 8 pm. slot they book grist starring Andy Griffeth and Walter Brennan. (The demos must be strong for the meat-and-potato brigade.) Quote
