European multi album blue note sets

hi forgive me if this has been covered before, are their 'masters' simily the original us commerical issued cds for this stuff, or did they make a DAT from the commerical cds and then run that off, cause it has to do w/ the copywright expring in europe, right? eg. 8 lps worth of red garland on 4 cds, etc.....

FWIW the Garland set sounded okay to me. But one of the discs was faulty.
