Pete C Posted July 17, 2012 Report Posted July 17, 2012 Kids sure were ugly back in them thar days... Especially thugs who grew up in squalor. Quote
cih Posted July 18, 2012 Report Posted July 18, 2012 (edited) The striking thing about those juvenile mugshots is the way they use the classic Victorian-era poses, despite them being taken for the purposes of criminal records - there's sometimes a striking contrast between the squalor of the kids' appearance and the posture - so that some end up looking very Dickensian. "Margaret Cosh was convicted of stealing a coat, she had no previous convictions and served two months with hard labor. Age (on discharge): 15." holy shit. 7 days hard labour for stealing iron - aged 11: Edited July 18, 2012 by cih Quote
brownie Posted July 18, 2012 Report Posted July 18, 2012 Most of the photos of the kids from the '70s (and the accompanying details) are heartbreakers! Quote
.:.impossible Posted July 18, 2012 Report Posted July 18, 2012 A friend of mine sent this to me last night. I hadn't seen the mug shots. Strange, fast release time capsule. Quote
alocispepraluger102 Posted July 18, 2012 Author Report Posted July 18, 2012 the interesting thing is the way in which they posed for the photograph, no need to try and look tough for the camera etc.. they present an air of dignity, all while stealing your watch.. very dickensian. Quote
