rostasi Posted October 28, 2012 Report Posted October 28, 2012 Originally, there was a video presentation postulating a media sea change in 2014, but a updated version has this media change happening in 2015. Not sure what prompted it, but the story is here. "In the year 2014 the New York times has gone offline The Fourth Estate's fortunes have waned What happened to the news? and what is EPIC?" Quote
johnlitweiler Posted October 28, 2012 Report Posted October 28, 2012 EPIC=End Poverty In California. EPIC was the political party that supported Upton Sinclair's candidacy for governor of CA about 80 or so years ago. Quote
JSngry Posted October 28, 2012 Report Posted October 28, 2012 It coined the word "Googlezon" from a future merger of Google and Amazon to form the Google grid, and speaks of news wars with the Times becoming a print only paper for the elite culminating in EPIC Evolving Personalised Information Construct Quote
rostasi Posted October 28, 2012 Author Report Posted October 28, 2012 I, of course, wasn't asking (notice the quotation marks), but I find this idea of the all-encompassing "we-the-media" in even larger form a curious thing that, like much growth, has the ups and downs to weigh. Life's like that I suppose, but the importance of where and with whom the media resides is quite monumental as we're seeing with the upcoming elections. Curious as to how they'll get a website for EPIC when you consider that the two biggins - .com and .org - are already taken. Quote
