7/4
Wayne Shorter Birthday Broadcast Aug 25, 2013, 2pm, edst to Aug 26 at midnight. "We’ll be kicking off our five-day birthday festival this Sunday with thirty-four hours of Wayne Shorter, celebrating his 80th birthday from 2pm, on Sunday August 25th until midnight, August 26th. Active since the late 1950s, saxophonist and composer Shorter bears a career that spans over multiple decades, marked by tenures with Art Blakey, Miles Davis, and Weather Report. One of the greatest living jazz composers today, many of Shorter's compositions -- including "Footprints," "Nefertiti," and "E. S. P." -- have become jazz standards. Tune in to hear everything from his master works, including "Juju" and "Speak No Evil," to his compositional works played by his contemporaries and more." http://www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/wkcr/story/wayne-shorter-birthday-broadcast-august-25-2pm-august-26th-midnight
Tom 1960
Let me also add since I'm presently listening to the broadcast, there will be similar celebrations in the coming days to Lester Young and Charlie Parker. Good listening for those interested.

Michael Weiss
Interminable yakking between tunes. I've been waiting here at least 15 minutes to hear a song. And it's not Phil Shaap!

Michael Weiss
A few minutes of talk, okay, but I didn't ask for no history lesson, least of all from some punk.

sgcim
Interminable yakking between tunes. I've been waiting here at least 15 minutes to hear a song. And it's not Phil Shaap! Phil trains these guys to yap just like him, but it's never as deadly as when Phil goes on one of his 40 minute jags... Still, I've got tons of Cedar and Wayne on tape now...
