l read a few survival articles during the Y2K scare and enjoyed them. Here's one that if you are not a camper you may not know about these.

Rubbing two sticks together might work eventually, but I think it would be a lot easier to build a fire if you start with a butane cigarette lighter. I always carry one to light my pipe anyway. Wind-proof, of course.

Yeah, but now I feel like I should throw an extra tin of something in my backpack, just in case...

My fave: If you're lost in the wilderness and get bitten by a snake, walk slowly back to your vehicle and get to a hospital within two hours.
