Stonewall15 Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 Who wrote the words for the songs in Mozart's operas? What about other composer's operas? If this is a stupid question please forgive me. Quote
T.D. Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 (edited) Best-known Mozart librettist (there were several) is Da Ponte: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lorenzo_Da_Ponte In general, it varies. Relatively few composers (Wagner of course being a notable exception) write their own libretti. Another well-known partnership is Richard Strauss / Hugo von Hofmannsthal. Stonewall15 Posted September 28, 2013 Author Report Posted September 28, 2013 Many thanks. Wagner must have really been a genius. Quote
