romualdo Posted March 12, 2014 Report Posted March 12, 2014 Trunk Records have just released the original motion picture soundtrack to early 60's X rated flick "The Small World Of Sammy Lee" (the soundtrack has never been previously released) "I discovered that Kenny also had a daughter. I paid her a visit to talk about Kenny’s life and work and to my delight she’d found a box in her attic full of Kenny’s old quarter-inch reels. One had the word “Sammy” written on a tiny sticker on the front. It just had to be the lost score – and indeed once I’d got it transferred, confirmed it was." http://www.trunkrecords.com/turntable/sammy_lee.shtml It's short (only 24mins) small group jazz material - unfortunately no musician names Quote
CraigP Posted March 12, 2014 Report Posted March 12, 2014 "Small" doesn't seem like a good word to use in the title of a porn flick. Quote
sidewinder Posted March 12, 2014 Report Posted March 12, 2014 As a big Kenny Graham fan I am thrilled to hear this and hope that Johnny T. dues an advance order for his e-mail subscribers as he did with 'Moondog and Suncat Suite'. Graham was a most talented tenor player and arranger - very sadly he ended up in his later years as a janitor in a block of flats, major loss to the jazz scene here. "Small" doesn't seem like a good word to use in the title of a porn flick. The film is likely to be pretty tame - anything stronger than the TV Test Card got an 'X' cert here back then.. Quote
sidewinder Posted March 15, 2014 Report Posted March 15, 2014 (edited) Just ordered a copy of the 'Sammy Lee' soundtrack on vinyl. Looks like the session line-up is unknown so it will be interesting doing a bit of detective work on this. Edited March 15, 2014 by sidewinder Quote
