alankin Posted April 19, 2003 Report Posted April 19, 2003 B3-er is there no record label that is willing to put Dr.Lonnie on a cd? Thats pathetic. As for freaking out those old white people-I love it!!!! Listed on the Jazzmatazz site: Dr. Lonnie Smith - Boogaloo to Beck (Scufflin') May 20 — with David "Fathead" Newman, Doug Munro and Lafrae Sci — jazz versions of songs by Beck Javon Jackson & Split Second - Easy Does It (Palmetto) — with Mark Whitfield, Fred Wesley, Dr. Lonnie Smith and Lennie White Quote
AfricaBrass Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 Thanks Alan! Those look like some interesting releases. I agree that it's a shame that Dr. Smith and others of his generation and caliber aren't recording more. If I only had my own record label.... As for Soulive, they're okay. It's enjoyable enough, but I would spend my organ trio budget on the Organissimo cd. I like it a lot more than Soulive. :rsmile: Quote
AfricaBrass Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 Can I quote you on that? Yes! I know I probably sound like a shill, but I really love the cd. :rsmile: Quote
