flat5 Posted October 29, 2014 Report Posted October 29, 2014 (edited) I hung with Jay for a few weeks in 2003 when he visited Amsterdam. He was so likable and accomplished. His attitude was wonderful. I wish I had absorbed more of it. RIP, Jay. Edited October 30, 2014 by flat5 Quote
BillF Posted October 29, 2014 Report Posted October 29, 2014 Will remember him by giving these a spin: Quote
JSngry Posted October 29, 2014 Report Posted October 29, 2014 Yeah, probably one of the first 50 or so tenor players (hell, maybe among the first 25 or so) I ever heard, thanks to the exposure those first Rich PJ sides got. Nice, swinging player, not at all a note machine, I still appreciate that, especially in a big band setting. RIP, thanks, and you will be remembered. Quote
