I hung with Jay for a few weeks in 2003 when he visited Amsterdam. He was so likable and accomplished. His attitude was wonderful. I wish I had absorbed more of it. RIP, Jay.

Yeah, probably one of the first 50 or so tenor players (hell, maybe among the first 25 or so) I ever heard, thanks to the exposure those first Rich PJ sides got. Nice, swinging player, not at all a note machine, I still appreciate that, especially in a big band setting.
