page Posted June 1, 2015 Report Posted June 1, 2015 Lots of great music to look into more closely. Freddie Slack, isn't he the one who played in Jimmy Dorsey's orchestra? Thank you once again, H.P. I've really enjoyed your game, iit was lovely! Kind regards, page Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted June 1, 2015 Report Posted June 1, 2015 A lot of good music here. Some I will need to dive into more. Freddie Slack and Dollar Brand are two I really enjoyed. I will look for these recordings. Quote
Dan Gould Posted June 1, 2015 Report Posted June 1, 2015 Thanks HP, some really nice tracks on this one. Plus it's rare that I get two right, and on one of them, I was first to at least ID the LP. What really threw me is how truncated that version is. IIRC, the title track from House Warmin' is about 12 minutes long. Re: The Kynard, I'll have to double check if I own Acid Jazz series reissue. You'd think I would but I'm not sure. The fact that I could have had a hat trick on this one leaves me with no option but to withdraw and be one with my shame. Quote

I am glad you enjoyed it! A lot of good music here. Some I will need to dive into more. Freddie Slack and Dollar Brand are two I really enjoyed. I will look for these recordings. Thanks. I hope you have good luck finding some Freddie Slack. That Mosaic Select is not so easy to find at a reasonable price. Quote

The fact that I could have had a hat trick on this one leaves me with no option but to withdraw and be one with my shame. I find that odd that an abridged version of "House Warmin'" was used on the Chess 2 CD collection, without any mention of that in the liner notes. I had imagined that the Charles Kynard track would be quickly identified by several members. I was surprised when it was not. You always present some interesting music. Thanks very much. You are welcome! Thanks for your kind words. Edited June 2, 2015 by Hot Ptah Quote
Dan Gould Posted June 2, 2015 Report Posted June 2, 2015 I imagine it was the 45 version of House Warmin that was used. They still should have mentioned it though. Quote
Spontooneous Posted June 2, 2015 Report Posted June 2, 2015 Ha! Joke's on me. Track 12, which I failed to recognize, is from a disc that I gave to Hot Ptah! Quote
