Vladimir Horowitz question

I have the Sony Horowitz box, which contains all his work for RCA and Columbia.  Other than the Deutsche Grammophon titles he did late in his career, did he do any other recordings for other labels?

How do the live boxes (Carnegie Hall and the new upcoming one) compare to the Original Jacket box?

Is all of it duplicated in the jackets box? I'd be surprised if yes, but I have no idea.

Many thanks, Ubu!  So it seems the only things missing (from officially released sessions) were some things for EMI.  I'll have to see if those are currently available.

As for the live boxes, I did a comparison of the Carnegie Hall to the Original Jacket box.  There is very little duplication.

Yet there's plenty of original-album-released stuff (Chopin, for instance, Scriabin, too, I think) that was taken from Carnegie Hall concerts ... I've never even attempted to figure it all out, have plenty of smaller sets (too much to ever have considered the complete box, which would probably be overkill for me) plus the Carnegie box (which is overkill as well, I guess, but it was so cheap ... )

I know - I wonder though if those that are are all duplicated on the Carnegie Hall box ... guess not necessarily, but as I said, I never really felt about comparing my various smaller sets with the Carnegie box.

I don't remember any overlap between the two, but there might be one or two disks. No more than that, I'm pretty sure. I remember checking when I ordered both.

I need to have a closer look some day - but for instance, on the Sony 3CD Chopin set, there's plenty that's taken from Carnegie Hall, so I wouldn't be surprised (not that it bothers me at all).

By the way, that Horowitz on Television DVD is amazing! They took the master tapes of the concert and reconfirmed them to the TV broadcast, so it's a TV show with hifi sound. GREAT performance too!

One of the reasons I wanted the complete jackets box is I read that Horowitz took great care in sequencing his albums.

He did the same with his concerts. Lots of duplication in Horowitz disks, but he performed the same pieces quite differently over time and live, so it's fascinating to compare the various performances. Never too much Horowitz!
