GA Russell Posted March 9, 2016 Report Posted March 9, 2016 I find that all of the websites of television channels automatically play a video of the text I am reading. I want to stop that. Is there a way that I can stop it with my browser (currently Firefox), thereby doing it only once, for all websites? Thanks! Quote
Scott Dolan Posted March 9, 2016 Report Posted March 9, 2016 I use Safari, so I'm not 100% sure this works, but give it a try. https://www.maketecheasier.com/disable-video-autoplay-firefox-chrome/ Quote
l p Posted March 9, 2016 Report Posted March 9, 2016 i know how to do it in chrome. maybe a similar method in firefox? How do you stop videos from playing automatically when visiting websites disable shockwave. In the Chrome menu, go to settings and scroll down to Show Advanced Settings. Click this and under the Privacy heading, click Content Settings. In the pop-up window, scroll down to Plug-ins and select the Click to play radio button [let me choose when to run plugin content]. sonnymax Posted March 9, 2016 Report Posted March 9, 2016 There's a Firefox add-on called FlashStopper the stops autoplay and gives you a thumbnail instead. You can customize it to allow autoplay on certain websites, or for all sites during a single session. Here's the download link: FlashStopper Quote
GA Russell Posted March 9, 2016 Author Report Posted March 9, 2016 Thanks guys! I have installed FlashStopper, and will study it tomorrow. Quote
GA Russell Posted March 21, 2016 Author Report Posted March 21, 2016 I just wanted to follow up, and let you guys know that FlashStopper has worked like a charm. I haven't had any problems. Thanks, sonnymax! Quote
