Anyone know how to STOP random autoplay in Windows 7?  My computer  just starts playing the first movie on my external hard drive at odd hours.  The cats say if they have to watch 400 Blows one more time, they're moving out.  Except for Piglet; she wants to know who Balzac is...

Alas, no.  The referenced program doesn't seem to exist in Windows 7 home version.

I would ask myself what was happening on my external that might trigger the auto play procees. Does your external go to sleep or into some other power saving mode and then wake back up due to...whatever?

A very basic question but doesn't  your external HDD , which presumably is connected by USB, have a simple on/off switch?

I've got six IO Data HDD drives and they all have a button on the back that allows you to turn off the power. I only turn them on when I want to use them.

Yeah, it does; move the mouse and it comes back...wait a minute; you mean the cats really do want to watch 400 Blows?

Nope.  No button.  But I think I'll disconnect the power to see if something else starts autoplaying instead.
