Tom 1960 Posted October 8, 2016 Report Posted October 8, 2016 Hey guys I'll be in San Diego in about 2 weeks. Any chance there are any music stores CD stores left in San Diego? Quote
David Ayers Posted October 9, 2016 Report Posted October 9, 2016 Well...not so much. I go to Lou's Records in Encinitas which jazzwise is mainly s/h plus mainstream new releases (ECM). It is just next door to the famous Panikin so you can do a combined visit. If you are a triathlete you could call at Nytro on the way up and Potato Shack is a must for breakfast. The store with the most distinctive history is Taang! records, no jazz there though, and close to Record City which you could also check out. Note: Panikin is a coffee shop. You can sit outside and watch the coaster go past. Quote
Tom 1960 Posted October 9, 2016 Author Report Posted October 9, 2016 (edited) Thanks David. I figured the pickings are very slim these days. I happened to see online there are a few stores in San Diego but it doesn't look promising. Thought it was worth the effort. Boy, I remember the glory days of Tower Records. I spent a lot of time there on Sports Arena Boulevard. Edited October 9, 2016 by Tom 1960 Quote
David Ayers Posted October 9, 2016 Report Posted October 9, 2016 Tower Records, yes, and the days when Lou's with double the floorspace it has now had a good range of new jazz at great prices. Quote
jcam_44 Posted October 10, 2016 Report Posted October 10, 2016 I was down there last year with no luck. Don't remember which shops we wandered through but I made no purchases Quote
