Those 'Club Diary' pages at the back of the old Jazz News are jaw-droppingly impressive. Hayes, Harriott, Morrissey, McNair et al as routine listings.

Nice to see the more recent 'Jazz UK's on there. I have quite a few in hard copy - this will fill in some gaps. Cheers !

That's how it was when I was going to gigs in the sixties. Must have seen those four umpteen times!

This is just a fascinating archive, for the types of conversation going on, for the people, even for the typeface and layout. So atmospheric, and such an interesting sort of history.

The journal Jazz Music, which started publication in 1943, is the newsletter of what called itself the Jazz Sociological Society. Early days for such thinking, in the UK at least. Very interesting that it started up in 1943...
