jazzbo Posted 6 hours ago Report Posted 6 hours ago “The Complete Roulette Dinah Washington Recordings” Mosaic Records disc 1 of 5 I love the sound Roulette produced on their records, almost without exception spacious and clear with a touch of warm room sound. I’ve neglected this box set too long, when I have listened to Dinah it has been the Emarcy/Mercury years mostly as I have all those complete sets Verve put out. Listening today the Billie Holiday influence hit me hard, but that’s not a bad thing and it’s not sheer imitation as I have encountered among others. There’s a greasy flavor to the arrangements for her and I like to sink back into that blue mood. 300×300 7.25 KB DavidF 2h Throwback time!
