cliffpeterson Posted February 18, 2018 Report Posted February 18, 2018 I went to the inaugural Hudson (NY) jazz festival yesterday. Curated by Armen Donelian. Thomas Chapin's sister-in law, a film director by trade, has been working on a documentary about him for quite a while. The film is intended to be commercially released in late March. I saw a preview showing of it yesterday. Very moving. Includes concerts. Opens and closes with a set he did with his trio at Newport in 1995. Quote
Clunky Posted February 18, 2018 Report Posted February 18, 2018 Good to hear that the film is coming out soon. It's been years as I recall in the making. TC is close to my heart having been very moved by a concert I attended at the Glasgow International Jazz Festival (1992?) Thomas' image from one of my photos from the gig has been my avatar here for pretty much all of my time as a member of this board. Quote
Jason Bivins Posted May 12, 2020 Report Posted May 12, 2020 Bumping this because I finally got around to watching the documentary on Amazon Prime. Very good, although it just reminds me of what a huge loss this remains. Quote
mjazzg Posted May 13, 2020 Report Posted May 13, 2020 Thanks, led me to find it to rent on YouTube. Weekend viewing sorted Quote
