mjazzg
Oliver Wiendling, director of the current Vortex, is tweeting that David Mossman died yesterday. He established the old Vortex in Stoke Newington Church Street as one of London's premier venues for live Jazz of all stripes but with particular support for the freer end of the spectrum. I heard many, many great nights of music there - Parker/Lytton/Guy released on Emanem; introductions to Dave Douglas and Tim Berne. I had reason to assist in a small way with the promotion of the club and every month was lucky to meet David and have a chat. A lovely man. Simon Weil
I saw Tim Berne and Herb Robertson there - the gig that turned on to Herb. RIP.
