Hardbopjazz Posted March 12, 2004 Report Posted March 12, 2004 I was about to order this CD, until I read the reviews posted on the Blue Note site. Some say the sound is so bad that the music should have never been released. Has anyone here bought it? If so, how is the sound? Quote
Peter Johnson Posted March 12, 2004 Report Posted March 12, 2004 Hey Tom--have a look here for a previous discussion, some of which touched on the sound quality, if I'm not mistaken. Quote
JSngry Posted March 12, 2004 Report Posted March 12, 2004 The sound is good enough to hear everybody play, and for stuff like this, that's good enough for me. Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted March 12, 2004 Author Report Posted March 12, 2004 The sound is good enough to hear everybody play, and for stuff like this, that's good enough for me. Thanks, I just ordered it. As long as I can hear all the musicians play, it's worth buying. Quote
JSngry Posted March 12, 2004 Report Posted March 12, 2004 Indeed. Pay no attention to people who complain about the "sound quality" of 1951 airchecks and the like. I can respect that some people don't care for such things, but that's the nature of the beast, and the historical value alone (to say nothing of the outstanding level of playing) overides any complaints based on standards that simply do not apply to material such as this. Just my opinion. Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted March 13, 2004 Author Report Posted March 13, 2004 Been spining this CD all day. They are all smoking. Worth getting. Quote
