A month ago we lost one of modern jazz's greatest players.  In my opinion, he was also among the greatest composers.  Below is just the cream of the crop:

Count me in for "Fly With The Wind", "Effendi", "Contemplation", "Search for Peace" and several others.  And please add in "A Message From the Nile".  In some cases, like the mighty "Sahara", it's hard to separate composition from performance in my brain.

The studio recording of Senor Carlos was on a rare somewhat commercially oriented McCoy Tyner recording, but I recall hearing thrilling versions of the composition live.

I am very partial to "You Taught My Heart To Sing". It took me a while to realize that it was written by McCoy Tyner.
