Car CD player recommendations?

I'm looking to upgrade from Neanderthal cassette players in both of our vehicles, and would appreciate recommendations.

I hope to avoid getting a separate amplifier. I think there are models available with enough power from their internal amps for our needs- don't need to share bass notes with half the neighborhood.

I like the Nakamichis because they have a good old fashioned round volume control, which I would really like to have so I don't get in a wreck when adjusting volume while driving. Pretty spendy though.

I guess Alpine is where I'm looking now. Doesn't need to be latest model, but being unfinicky about CD-Rs is a must- I plan to burn from my home collection for car use.

Any suggestions?

Hey Riverrat, I recently replaced an older model Alpine cd player with the Pioneer above, and have really been pleased with its performance. Nice round volume control knob, too.

I made this 157-song mp3 cdr last night to test out my new car cd player's mp3-playing capabilities. Really cool! The digital display says the artist's name and track while the song plays.

i just purchased a kenwood, which is sirius ready.

you also get the sirius receiver for free ($150 value) if you purchase the antenna for $50.

this special goes on till the first week of april at bestbuy.
