JSngry Posted February 18, 2022 Report Posted February 18, 2022 So what's the story with this guy? Seems like he stayed local(?) but also founded(?) Catalyst Records which seemsed to have recorded mostly out of LA, but was also one of the infamous "division of Springboard Records"s. There's some true gems in that catalog, I'd hate to see them fall into the wrong hands, if they haven't already... So, what's the deal with any of this? and is this Summer Bartholomew? Quote
felser Posted February 19, 2022 Report Posted February 19, 2022 Fresh Sound did nice twofer CD"s of the Hadley Caliman and Gary Bartz albums from the label. Excellent records. My favorite Caliman. There are still several other excellent titles in the catalog, especially the magnificent Waldron/Peacock "First Encounter" album. No idea who holds rights to them. Quote
JSngry Posted February 20, 2022 Author Report Posted February 20, 2022 Appently, the rather sketchily named "VJ International" was a Britt-based affair So who WAS this guy, and how did Fresh Sounds get some but hardly all of his material? The Stitt-Holloway record is a real treat. One of those things where rote playing would have been enough to meet expectations but they weren't having none of that! Quote
