ghost of miles Posted April 25, 2003 Report Posted April 25, 2003 (edited) Not sure if we've had this topic yet on the board, but I wanted to recommend WGBH out of Boston. I listen to it frequently during my breaks at work each night; if some of you remember SteveBop (Steve Schwarz) from the Blue Note board, this is his home station. Lotsa jazz, pretty much from 7 in the evening till five in the morning--seems to be a good mix of classic/historical and modern, leaning towards straightahead much of the time. Here's a link to their site and webcast: WGBH Edited April 25, 2003 by ghost of miles Quote
ghost of miles Posted May 2, 2003 Author Report Posted May 2, 2003 Right now Eric Jackson's got Steve Lacy & Danilo Perez on as his guests. Quote
Brad Posted May 2, 2003 Report Posted May 2, 2003 (edited) I'd vote for a couple of stations in my area. One is WKCR It's not a full time jazz station but they have jazz from 6-930 am est, weekdays, highlighted by Phil Schapp's Bird show from 820-930. Then they have jazz from 12-3 and 6-9 pm weekdays. There's also a swing show from 6-9 pm on Saturday and a show just spotlighting one artist from 2-6 on Sundays. Another is WBGO, which is based in NJ and is very popular nationally. They have a good mix. Edited May 2, 2003 by Brad Quote
ghost of miles Posted May 2, 2003 Author Report Posted May 2, 2003 Thanks for the links, Brad. Michael Bourne, one of the jazz programmers at WBGO, actually came from WFIU, the Bloomington, Indiana NPR affiliate where I now work part-time. He dj'd here from 1972 to 1984. Quote
