street singer Posted yesterday at 06:19 PM Report Posted yesterday at 06:19 PM Anyone else use DiscSox sleeves to store their CD's? After using them for DVDs and blu-rays for years, I'm slowly converting my CD collection to them after previously using the Jazz Loft-style sleeves. The one issue I have is how to use the empty space at the top of the sleeve. This space is there to allow for a paper insert containing information about the disc (artist, title, year of release, year of reissue, etc). I would like to be able to use this space for an insert containing this type of info, because it would make flipping through a large collection much easier, but...I'm at a loss as to how to go about printing this information on paper. DiscSox offer a template on their website, but it's pretty basic. Is there a way to use something like MS Word, or some other software, to design a custom template better suited to my needs? Anyone with experience with this sort of thing? Any advice is appreciated! Quote
mjzee Posted yesterday at 09:42 PM Report Posted yesterday at 09:42 PM I see that their template files use a .mcw format, which I've never heard of (and my Mac doesn't recognize). But the task seems fairly simple: 1) Measure the insert space (height, width) 2) Open Word or Pages, and draw a rectangular shape that matches the insert space. Give it a thin border and no fill. 3) Create a text box, and overlay that onto the rectangle. 4) Duplicate that rectangle down the page, so you can fill out more than one at a time. 5) Save it as a template. Perhaps even easier would be to use a spreadsheet. You can fill in the columns and then just print and cut to fit. Good luck! Quote
jcam_44 Posted 15 hours ago Report Posted 15 hours ago I have probably 1,200 albums in discsox. I created a template to add the leader/group name and have them filed where I can flip through like a Rolodex. Quote

This is something that I assumed would be simple...but, having never done it before, it's proving to be a bit of a headache. If I ever get it figured out, I'll follow up and let you know! 8 hours ago, jcam_44 said: I have probably 1,200 albums in discsox. In addition to the artist and album title, I'd like to include the year of original release and some basic edition-specific information (RVG Edition, OJC Edition, etc) as well, since I have multiple editions of some discs. I just ordered 1,000 CD Pro sleeves, so...looks like I'm committed. 😄 Quote
