Brandon Burke Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 (edited) Looks like you don't have to be Pavement anymore if you want to make artwork ripped off of The Fall. Someone went to the trouble of creating a font based on the handwriting of Fall leader, Mark E. Smith. And, as it happens, it looks pretty accurate. The Mac version is currently down (damn!) but the PC one works. Check the guy's track record...... http://www.visi.com/fall/news/mesfont.html Edited April 30, 2004 by Brandon Burke Quote
Jazzmoose Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 I just want to announce right here and now that I have no clue what this thread is about... Quote
Jazzmoose Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 this guy? good lord! Scratch that late lunch idea... Quote
Brandon Burke Posted April 30, 2004 Author Report Posted April 30, 2004 (edited) Good lord, indeed! That photo is insane. Personally, I like to think of him as being "this guy"... ....but who am I kidding. I'm seeing them tomorrow night, by the way. Edited April 30, 2004 by Brandon Burke Quote
Brandon Burke Posted May 1, 2004 Author Report Posted May 1, 2004 (edited) Listening to "Big New Prinz" (the only good song on I Am Curious Oranj) as I type. Very excited for tomorrow night. I just heard that Mark hurt his hip, having slipped on a patch of ice at some point in the last couple of months, so he's apparently been doing shows from behind a desk, not unlike Spalding Gray [R.I.P.]. How perfect is that.....?! Too bad the other Fall fans on this board have no idea what this thread is about, seeing as it's titled "Curious Black(-ah)". Oh well..... Brandon Burke Posted May 1, 2004 Author Report Posted May 1, 2004 why can't i remember the name of that town near lawrence that was the slave state capital? crazy st. mary's i remember. also lucas, the flint hills, etc. etc. kansas: the most underrated state & also one of the weirdest... I agree that Kansas is both an underated and weird place. Hell, William Burroughs lived there for the last 25-or-so years of his life. Kansas, however, was a "free" state; thus the heated rivalry with Misourri which was a slave state at the time. The town you're thinking of is Topeka (which is very weird indeed). Quote
Brandon Burke Posted May 1, 2004 Author Report Posted May 1, 2004 That's a cool article, Clem. I was surpsized by its length. Must've been quite a chunk of the music section..... Quote
.:.impossible Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 Ripped off or not, Pavement did have some great cover art. That picture of Mark E. Smith is... wow. How was the show? Quote
Brandon Burke Posted May 2, 2004 Author Report Posted May 2, 2004 Not nearly as good as last time which, surprisingly, was last July. That one was amazing. Renewed vigor on Mark's part for sure. This time....not so much. Still glad I went. Quote
