That's about the best possible scenario, given the family's apparent desire to divest a lot of their holdings after Mari Hulman George's death. "The Captain" runs a tight ship. Anticipating questions regarding conflict of interest as a team owner and a track owner, he's already indicated he will be stepping back from day-to-day operations of the team and his usual position running race-day strategy to focus on running the Speedway.

If he can buy Indianapolis, will he maybe buy Greenland while he's at it?

Since the death of Dale Earnhardt, U.S. automobile racing has seen its popularity plummet.  Gran Prix appears to be the healthiest of the major players, but Indy Car and NASCAR have fallen on hard times.  If you're a fan, you have to cross your fingers and hope that Penske will be able to gin up some much-needed interest in American racing.

If I owned the Indy 500, I would first make it clear to the public what they are watching, and why anyone might care.

For example, what is an Indycar, and what makes it special enough to watch?
