  1. Cole is one of my favorites and really a link between swing and bebop, in my opinion. Peterson got a lot from him but lacked that all important thing called taste. Listen to Nat on Body and Soul if you want to hear an artist - Peterson had a lot on the ball harmonically, but just sounded like a jackhammer to me. Patterns, patterns, and more patterns. There's a famous Miles Davis interview (printed in Jazz Panorama) that, for me, nails it, re-Peterson's problems.

    just my opinion.

  2. as the blues project will be filling up my winter (I hope) I need to thin out some of my Devilin Tune stock-

for the next 2 weeks I will sell you any volume (there are 4 in all) for $42 shipped domestically (for Euro shipping send me a query) - prefer paypal, my paypal is alowe5@maine.rr.com

I don't have a lot I can sell at this price, and this is really the last time I can move it like this as supplies are somewhat low -

  3. I'm buying a new digital mulit-track so this has got to go, don't know if anybody here will be interested, before I go to ebay.

great little unit, basically it allows recording to either direct-to-digital or to a laptop through the USB; has very good 24/96 converters built in, the pre-amps (there are 4) are surprising good, also. A great and reliable and small unit. has lots of inputs, spdif digital in and out.

this thing is almost new (it cost $399 new) - I'll sell it for $225 plus shipping conus.

    Perfect for the home recordist.

would prefer paypal (my paypal is alowe5@maine.rr.com)

  4. In reality, and maybe because of the ridiculous amount of music I have listened to in the last ten years in order to do 2 very large reissue projects, I am sick of almost everything that is jazz-related. It's weird, I can rarely listen to a jazz performance for more than 30 seconds without wanting to go ahead to another. I feel as if I have heard every phrase and note that any improviser will ever play.

on the other hand, I just started playing again, so my challenge is to produce music that does not bore me (just everyone else) -

I wanted it short, loud, pithy, deep, dark, and rough.

    (no call girl jokes, please)
