    Great to see that! My Hollywood Stampede album has been a great favorite for years. For a man who started his professional career about twenty-five years earlier, it's amazing how Hawkins embraced the new bop sounds like that!

    Interesting thread, Peter! We used to think that Clarence Shaw was like this, but I find more in his wikipedia entry than I'd expected. Dupree Bolton is more like it; wikipedia uses the word "obscure". All trumpeters so far! Why is that?
