  1. Joe Henderson (not Mr Piano) but no Hank.
  2. Ronnie Scott on Desert Island Discs from 1978 available online from the BBC.
  3. That's a winner! Fortunately, we still have Peter Ind with us as well.
  4. Sad news. Saw him once - at the Peel Hotel, Leeds in about 1968 with a local rhythm section.
  5. Feldman wasn't using four mallets when I saw him play in 1959, nor was he in the only YouTube clip I could find, which looks to be from the 70s.
  6. Sad news. Saw him with the Jazz Messengers in 1961. Venue? The Free Trade Hall, of course. Shorter now the only survivor of that band.
  7. Yes indeed! Despite my long career in jazz listening, I wasn't around for Victor's kid drummer phase, but I did see him on a triumphant Christmas return from the States to Ronnie Scott's in 1959 when I had just turned 20. On that occasion he played vibes only. Incidentally, he played both drums and vibes with Woody Herman. My favourite, though, is his piano playing, as heard to perfection on the Adderley Lighthouse album and on his own Merry Olde Soul.
