  1. Ah, that's the lifestyle!
  2. Saw Ronnie driving a flash sports car in Shaftesbury Avenue in the 1960s with a woman young enough to be his daughter. Never heard he had any daughters though! Nice one, David!
  3. Fascinating stuff. But the interviewers were so square in those days. I was present at an interview in the later 1960s in Harrogate, UK of Lenny Tristano by a guy from BBC Yorkshire who was a pain. Brings to mind that famous short film, "The Interview". P.S. Looks like the Petterstein skit was in 1955, i.e. shortly after the Parker interview. I think there are sufficient echoes to link the two.
  4. A nice one, Peter!

  6. I'm unfamiliar with the sextet, but the big band sides have often been teamed with Mulligan tracks from around 1950. The star-studded big band is fiery - as you might expect from a Jackson outfit - but doesn't sound to have had much rehearsal time.
  7. Interesting! Helped my memory re the Clarke/Boland band. I thought I'd seen them and had the idea it was on the night before Kenny's drum clinic at the Band on the Wall in about 1979 which I also attended - but it couldn't have been, as the CBBB was no longer in existence then. So I saw them in 68! Re the 70s there was still a lot happening at the FTH. I recall seeing Lionel Hampton, Woody Herman, Mahavishnu Orch and Gil Evans.
  8. Saw Philly during his UK residence. He was with Roland Kirk and Benny Bailey. The venue? Free Trade Hall, of course! Sidewinder: Is this gig mentioned in The Book?
  9. Ah, that beautiful last session!
  10. I think you're right!
  11. It's stored with the cylinder.
