  1. There were some great jazz festivals in Europe at the time. My wife and I had plans to go to the San Sebastian festival in 1977 to see Bill Evans, Konitz and Rollins, but called it off at the last moment because of Basque separatist bombings in the city. (I saw the first two elsewhere anyway.)
  2. Ah, yes! A trip down memory lane! Saw them at Leeds Town Hall on that tour. I was aged 17!
  3. Now that is one I don't know.

  5. The title reminds me of the Bury Jazz Society which used to meet in Bury, Greater Manchester.
  6. Nice to hear these tracks again in a new format.
  7. I like that one!
  8. Yes, "Music's the Only Thing That's on my Mind" is a better choice than "Viral Blues" by Eddie "Lockdown" Davis.
  9. Yes, that's an excellent one. Glad you share my views about Bud's prime. The latest Bud I owned was from '53, but I had just about all his leader dates (and a great amount otherwise) from the years before that. I think it's all summed up in the first Bud album I ever owned: Absolutely prime one side, but considerable decline on the other (from '47 to '53).
  10. Sounds like an appropriate choice at the moment!
  11. That's a nice one! Just started listening. I'm feeling the need for a piano!
  12. No. I was at university in Leeds in '63, but I was at the Free Trade Hall 70th Birthday Concert in '69. I recall a couple of French girls sitting behind me ungraciously describing the great man as "comme un cadavre" (like a corpse).
  13. Yes, I was at the Mobley gig. Perhaps a youthful me is in the background!
  14. Thanx for the prompt, David! And those titles! "Tonsillectomy", "Dalvatore Sally", "Boyd Meets Stravinsky", "Little Boyd Blue"
  15. Now listening. You can't get much better than this! Hope there's room on that desert island for yet another!
