  1. I think this is the first 2020 album I've heard, and very nice, too! Must keep it in mind for the "best of the year" lists in 10+ months' time. Interesting contrast between Rupert and Garzone whose primary influences sound like Getz and Coltrane, respectively, yet both sound very contemporary. Mr Rupert seems to be going places; I hadn't heard of him a few months ago, but have now heard him on three recordings recently.
  2. Now listening!
  3. As far as the big names in the art world go, the only others, apart from De Stael, I can think of who refer specifically to jazz are Stuart Davis: and of course Mondrian's Broadway Boogie Woogie and the unfinished Victory Boogie Woogie:
  4. Do we have a thread on jazz in art? Your cover is "Jazz Musicians" by Nicholas De Stael:
  5. Looks promising. Must give it a listen.
  6. Unfortunately, I sold his super compilation An Ace Face as it was available on Spotify. Now it isn't!
  7. She looks like she's escaped from the Morton book!
  8. Hi Matt, Will be replying to your PM: For the others here's Danny Padmore's greatest jazz moment - and the bass comes through pretty strongly - with Jon Eardley and John Bunch among others: https://youtu.be/kSY_jcnxfgE?list=PLIIyUvCSYPWJNGkfFppJaes3GGekzQb2a
