In the Messengers Dockery had a limited range of right hand figures, but was a strong comper, combining with Spanky De Brest to produce the driving rhythm section that Blakey wanted. Lots of albums and all great IMO.
Discovered Grossman relatively recently via Spotify. Albums I have enjoyed are A Small Hotel, Bouncing with Mr A T, Do It, Love Is the Thing, My Second Prime, Time to Smile, Way Out East Vols 1 & 2 and + Cedar Walton Trio.
Just finished a re-read. Interesting Cold War setting of Berlin at the time of Operation Gold. One can pick holes in McEwan's technique/style, but always readable.
