GSJ: This week's theme Al & Zoot
Excellent, of course, the only drawback being that all but one of the tracks played were already in my collection. The odd man out - from Zoot's Prestige and Vogue sides - is now on my purchase list.
The SwingShift Big Band with guest soloist Alan Barnes at Southport this afternoon.
In addition to his usual armoury of alto, bari and clarinet, Barnesy treated us to quite a bit of tenor playing this afternoon. His big band arrangements were good, too.
Now listening to the Smalls audio archive:
"Killer" Ray Appleton (dms)
Jim Rotondi (tpt)
Mike DiRubbo (alt)
David Hazeltine (pno)
Paul Gill (bs)
