  1. Lol, I've been around, just not on the boards asmuch. Lol jazzcat or whoever he is, can post all he wants. I'm not on this site to * troll * the forums. I'm hear to share my input and analyze what you guys are posting. I've been buisy with my jazz however. I'm studying allot with, Gerry heburt, pat belavou and gareth hues, and playing at local jazz clubs expanding my horizens and getting out in the scene. Actually, once i've graduated jazz school at mount royal, I think I'm going to move to Montreal, because the jazz scene there is larger then in calgary. + Newyork will be a short distance away.
  2. Why did we stop posting people. I'm still new. Whats up guys
  3. Lol okay maybe that post went alittle far. I'm just doing my best to contribute the clowning around these forums are use to.
  4. Hey guys, I'm not the least worried about my spelling. What lacks in my spelling makes up by having a super huge shwang the ladies love me for it.
  5. ? whoever that guy you asked if I was, I am not. Lol I am new to these forums.
  6. Lol you guys better behave or I'm going to bust oua can of whoop as on yal.
  7. I am a great guy, I just am no good at spelling, atleast when it comes to talking on these things on teh keyboard. I make careless mistakes when I type and I oveok them most of the time. But tahnks for beinan ass I appreciate it
  8. He's right. Many famous musicians have played the bermuta trianle, and they were never scene again.
  9. Police whistles are over rated. The only audience you will atract will be more along the lines of the Cainine speecies. I would suggest the triangle. It is more harmonic and if your good enough, you can bust out the triangle to some parker tunes
  10. I'm suporting the Esquire, Although I spunge bob watches are just as good and 600 dollars cheaper.
  11. Alright guys I am looking for some great artists to listen to and I want you to name some names. For the past 5 years I have been pretty much blind sides by Parker. Charlie parker was my major influence and he was the only artist I bothered looking at at analysing. however Since I got my tenor I'm starting to open my eyes to a wider variaty of jazz and the artists out there. So Far I know of John coltrane, Sunn rollins, Geraldn Albright, Cannonball aderly and Don patterson. sunny stitts David sandbourn. Brandford marcelious. What other famous jazz artists are there that I should look at? I want someone that has the same sort of Be-bop style that coltrane has. I also listen to other instruments aswell, dizzy gillespie and Miles davis. If you guys can tell me some other musicians I should listen to that would be much appreciated.
  12. Awsome man, Given the fact that you wen't on your own wim, to purchase guitar books to teach yourself how to become a better jazz player shows great determinations and some even better potential surrounding the jazz world. I've always been a huge fan of the guitar for jazz, its so technical and some of the riffs people play are mind boggling, even quicker then some of the lines * The Bird Himself plays* Keep up the good work man, Thanks for sharing what book worked best for you, I'm sure others will pick it up and have the same experiences.
  13. LMFAO... Someone really needs to get some
  14. Interesting article. I can understand why they did that, the be-bop style was new to the schools and they wanted to keep everything the same and make sure they have control over the sudents. however be-bop is the Shizzniz, and should never die! I am all about jazz and be-bop, but I don't go as far as dress it. I wear diesel baby! I'm a sexy sexy cat.
  15. There is no bagpipes in teh Mocking shadows. oviously there is another band out there called the mocking shadows. And I am not talking about them. Forget I mensioned anything guys.
  16. This thread as been around for 1.5 years Wow I love the Bird I can't wait until this cd comes out!
  17. How is the music Irish? I'm not sure we are talking about the same band. The Mocking shadows as a singer, a bass player, a trumpet, a trombone, a organ and a sax. www.mockingshadows.ca I believe. they do not play irish music?
  18. We have a wicked jazz spot in calgary called the Beatniq jazz club. Some thursdays it is open mike, and I have sat in and played some tunes before. Grant you, it wasn't a * true gig* there was no money involved. However it was great experience, and I just loved getting up there and playing my music, I also enjoyed the croweds response to my music!. If any of you guys are ever going to be in calgary i'd hit up the Beatniq for sure.
  19. We'll thank you. We'll if we can jump back on topic for a second, why do you guys not like the Mocking shadows?
  20. Lol This thread got Way off topic.
  21. I have maine coone cats. Walker is 38 pounds, he's one of hte biggest cats out there. Maine coone cats are the largest pet cats you can own. My mom breeds them and takes them to shows and such so I have 5 cats at home...
  22. The 5 years I played alto, I mainly listened to Charlie parker. He was my altime heroe, he was who gave me the most insight about everything jazz related. Now with my tenor, I listen to John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Those are the main people. I have a few Coltrane abersolds however there quite chalenging to master. The Be-bop style of Coltrane is a completely different way of hearing jazz, / improvising in sink with the background beats as charlie parker was. So its a complete change for me. however I got the parker style, aswell as more mellow cool jazz down. Now its time to expand my learnings towards coltrane and more true jazz tones, if that makes sence. So I'm working hard to analyze his solo's and progressing my field of music.
  23. I'm not a man trying to get plublicity for people. I could of just as easilly talked about my idols. Coltrane, sonny rollins, charlie parker, and ask what you guys think of them. However I thought it would be interesting to see how far the mocking shadows have made it, and what you guys think of there type of music. After all I am not a big fan of the funk, and that is not the kind of music I wanto play for a living, Gareth hughes is stilla mentor to me and he is creating an amazing sax player out of myself. I'm not here to spam the site, just talk about jazz and share insight.
  24. I practice all the time. I generally talk on this when I'm at school, or am just chilling and talking on the computer. I usually practice about 3 - 4 hours a day. It's hard to revolve it around my highschool work, and my social life. but Its worth it. It might be lots now, but When I'm on my own, and I've graduated Mount royal I will be playing allot more then that every day!
