  1. Wow Sounds awsome, Thanks for letting me know that. I was about to say, For a Forum full of 30 + year olds, It seems like I'm talking to a bunch of 7 year olds lmao... Its been one day and my * Hey guys I'm new * thread has turned into a completely different subject.
  2. I don't understand the problem about telling you guys what setup I am currently using? I can oviously see you guys are not interested, however atleast let me know what I did wrong please?
  3. Lol I mean older then 17, from the sounds of it all you guys are probably in your 20's, even 30's. So again, does anybody here play saxaphone?
  4. So I take it all you guys are older? What kind of instruments do you all play, anybody here a saxaphone player?
  5. Just by a show of hands who here has ever been to watch the Mocking Shadows. They are a fabulous calgary band, who have been around for about 7 years. I understand they play different stuff then you, me and others might be use to listning to. The mocking shadows play allot of Macey o parker, and James brown. They take after the Funk aira of jazz, however they are still a fabulous group. Gareth hughes the saxplayer in the mocking shadows is currently my instructor. I have been studying with him for half a year. If you guys havn't checked them out yet, I'd highly recomend giving them a listen to.
  6. I realize this is off topic for what this thread has come to in means of the messages you guys are submiting however. From the name * overlooked alto's* I would like to give some imput. Cannonball is an amazing company, however since they have only been around for a short while, nobody wants to play there horns due to feeling they have not been in the industry long enough to make a stellar horn. Well i palyed on the Cannonball Big Bell World Serious Pro model for the past 2 years before i got my tennor. It was the A1-ICE finish. I must say it was an amazing saxaphone, Really quick response and a super Bright tone, with a dark mellow lower octave. I played it with the SR Technologies Legend 85 mouth piece, on 3 1/2 Vandoran Z series reeds, and the setup was perfect. I would recomend a Cannonball to anybody!
  7. Hey I just found this site when I was searching some jazz topics. My name is George, and I'm 17 years old. I have been playing alto saxaphone for 5 and a half years, and I just switched to tenor. Currently I'm playing a Selmer Reference 54 tenor, with the matte * antique * finish. I use a SR technologies Pro 115 mouth piece, with a Vandoran Z series 3 Reed. I find the setup is perfect. It has a brighter uper registry and brilliant altisimo tone, without sacraficing the Dark Mellow lower octave that the Reference 54 is famous for! I will be attending Mount royal next year for the jazz program, and Hopefully in the next few years I can get my name out there. Currently I'm studying with Gareth hughes who is the tenor player in the Mocking Shadows. However I have also studied with Pat Belavou, and Gerry hebert from gerry and the swinging bovines, aswell as Keith Kruchek. I'll be looking forward to discussing jazz related topics with all of you guys. You have put forth quite a wicked site here. Take care everybody! P.S if this site suports larger data, I should have some cd's of mine up and running if I can figure out how to make them load, so all of you can have a chance to here me play!
