  1. Okay, this is pretty interesting. I heard both of them make great music.... I'm very familiar with Anat Cohen's work, I dig her album "Poetica" and the 3 Cohens album "Braid," which features her trumpet playing brother.
  2. I need some help here guys. Are there two different Avishai Cohens? One that plays bass and the other plays trumpet or are they the same person? Please explain....thanks.

Yes, his work with Gress was very good. What was cool about that album was it had Ben Monder on guitar on that session. Monder is one of my favorites, but Adam Rogers is David Binney's guitarist of choice and damn good one at that! Again, "Free To Dream," "Oceanos," and "Afinidad" are just amazingly good, organic, very cohesive recordings. If anyone is a Binney fan or a potential fan, they should own these three albums. I also thought "Cities And Desires," "South," and "Welcome To Life" was good too.

I own all the Joel Harrison and yes I agree Binney's mark are all over the ones he played on. The last one he did with Binney which was "Harbor" was very impressive. It had Harrison sharing guitar duties with Nguyen Le. The best Binney albums, in my opinion, are "Free To Dream," "Afinidad," "Oceanos," and "South." But I really liked the Edward Simon album "La Bakina." What continues to amaze me is how great a composer Binney is, he really has a distinctive style. His ballads are some of the best I've heard in years.

I really suggest getting "Free To Dream" and/or "Oceanos." Both are excellent and while you're at it check out "Afinidad." All of these feature Edward Simon on piano.

Well I don't take things like wearing a baseball cap of an opposing team too seriously, he is a great player and even better composer. Do you own any of his albums, Van Basten II? I think I dig his work with Edward Simon more than I do with Taborn, but both are outstanding players.

I didn't see a topic on here talking about David Binney, but I was just curious what all of you thought about him? I have about 5 or 6 of his albums, all are very good, especially "Free To Dream."
  8. Jeremy Pelt is a promising talent on trumpet. I don't really care too much for his music, but he's certainly making a name for himself these past few years. But like fine wine, he can only get better with age.
  9. I can't believe that I have just gotten around to setting up my amplifiers for stereo. I had the capablity to do it for a long time, but I don't why I just didn't go ahead an do it. Man, I can't go back now! Is anyone else here setup in stereo? My setup is very similar to Bill Frisell's and Ben Monder's because I'm running stereo from my Lexicon reverb unit.
  10. I'm not too crazy about that Moog Guitar. Just give me a Fender Strat and some effects pedals and I'm ready.
  11. Nguyen Le has a web site. According to his web site, he plays with some pretty heavy Jazz cats. The guitars are made by http://www.juliengendre.com/. He makes some interesting looking guitars, but there's a bit of a language barrier for me. Nguyen Le is one of my favorites. He has a very original sound. Very strong Vietnamese influence in his playing, which I really dig. Walking On The Tiger's Tail Lineup From Left To Right: Jamey Haddad - percussion, Art Lande - piano, Nguyen Le - guitar, guitar synthesizers, Paul McCandless - English horn, oboe, saxophones, bass clarinet
  12. A guitarist I've been really enjoying lately is Nguyen Le. He composes some really great melodic music. He's got a very Asian/Orient feel to his playing. Anyone else here dig him?
  13. That's a sweet lookin' amp! Yeah it's a great sounding amp. I'm going to buy another one have it set-up in stereo, which will be sweet.
  14. For the money and the unbeatable price, the Jay Turser is by far one of the finest amps I've heard and I've heard plenty of them. I've been playing for 18 years and most of that time I played a big amp. Not anymore! I'm done with the big amps. I'm selling mine.
  15. 16. Okay, I understand it know. Thanks for being patient and explaining it to me so clearly. It sounds like a good as long as you keep up with it.
  17. Okay I think I understand what you're saying, so they send a cd to you regardless if you wanted it or not? Let's say I put three albums in my cart and just leave them in there, am I obligated to buy any of them? Why do I have to leave cds in my cart?

  19. So I can only buy 1 cd for $6.99 a month? Why can't I buy them for $6.99 all the time? That seems kind of crazy to me.
  20. Okay, I understand now, I have to pay $6.99 a month, regardless if I buy a cd or not to subscribe to them. There's always a catch. I'll stick with Amazon who charges me nothing other shipping and handling to be a member. For example, if I buy a cd that's $5.00, well that would be $7 with shipping. Customers shouldn't have to pay anything other than what it costs to buy the cd. A monthly fee is kind of stupid.
  21. I'm actually looking for an actual copy of the album. I don't want to download it. Thanks, Aggie87. That is an actual copy of the CD (not a download) he's referring to. But don't you have to subscribe to them or something? Are they another Columbia House scheme? What's the catch?
  22. "Where In The World?" is my favorite Frisell record.
  23. I'm actually looking for an actual copy of the album. I don't want to download it. Thanks, Aggie87.
  24. Hello Everyone, I'm just curious if any of you own a copy of Drew Gress' "7 Black Butterflies" or "Irrational Numbers" and want to sell or trade it for another album? Please feel free to email via Organissimo and hopefully we can have a fair trade.
  25. Thank you Papsrus and everyone who responded. I will definitely be getting these two recordings. I've read nothing but stellar reviews online.
