  1. The perfect thing after a day of hard work
  2. Yes, I remember this Group, I think I saw so many Miles Davis Performances I don´t remember which one was in which year. But I remember one Thing: Kei Akagi was the musician who fascinated me most, he was really taking care of Business, the rest…….well it was that Kind of latterday Miles Performances, more Show than Performance, and oh Boy...…...those silly clothes ! I don´t know who was Miles´ Fashion guide, but to wear wide trousers like he did, for a short guy…..makes him lookin even Shorter and quite hefty…… and once he was really a well dressed man. And Kenny Garret, all those Colors, impossible.... But as I said, Kei Akagi was really a big , a very big surprise, such a great virtuoso and great musician !
  3. can´t see the pic !
  4. I saw him with Miles and his playing was the highlight of the Show. Before that, the Keyboard Players who worked for Miles were more for the Sound, not for solo playing, but Kei Akagi really is an virtuoso…. And I was Looking Forward so much to hear them live in March this year , but it was channeld due to the Pandemie. Dave Liebman was one of the first great saxophonists I saw live decades ago...
  5. oh yeah, Blues in the Night, Stormy Weather and so on....
  6. Is it possible that this was later in the 70´s on the French "America" Label. They had a lot from the Debut-stuff, and as much as I remember, the LP was titled "My Little Cello". I had and still have some of those "America" LPs, they had fine Music, mostly Mingus, and were relativlely cheap for a Youngster.....
  7. The Dizzy Gillespie 2 CDs at Spotlite
  8. I didn´t know Ramsey Lewis played with Max Roach. I only saw him once and I think that was more easy listening Music, as much as I recall…..
  9. Well Woody sounds great on those Monk tunes, he could Play everything, but I think as Long as he could afford to have his own Group he played his own Music and Maybe it was quite frustrating for him the Play as a single and Play what is called "common Knowledge". I saw Woody Shaw twice: The first time with that great Group with Mulgrew Miller and Steve Turré , and then Five years later only him with some locals, but it was hard for me to believe it´s the same musician…...
  10. Really great live Music, and Geri Allen very "Monkish" I remember when I started to dig some so called "Free Jazz" after one year of listening to straight ahead jazz, and I was delighted that this is what I call "easy listening free jazz" since it has a swing Rhythm . It was harder for me to listen to free jazz with no theme and no Rhythm.... it took me some more years to dig it.... I love it, it really swings, and great the tunes where Kenny Burrell sit´s in.
  11. Another from 1964 Dexter in Radioland. Great !
  12. This one is fantastic, one of Bud´s all time best Albums and a fantastic Team with Sam Jones and Philly Joe Jones. Two of the tunes (John´s Abbey and Monopoly) became Bud´s Standard repertoir.
  13. My opinion is, that this one is the very best from all BN Albums Dexter made. It really some hot stuff.
  14. Oh I love those Dexter in Radioland Albums. When they came out in the late 70´s Maybe early 80´s we all purchased them as soon as they came out. I think "Billie´s Bounce" OR...the bounce of Billie (I think that´s how Dexter announced it) came out a bit later…... The first I had was "Cry Me A River", "Cheese Cake" "King Neptune", "I want more" and so on......
  15. Great ! This could have been recorded About the same period when I was lucky to see Jay McShann live. As much as I remember he was booked with a local Rhythm Section, and at one certain Moment in the last set the female singer Etta Scollo (from Sicilia) sat in for one song…...
  16. always great to listen to.
  17. I like his playing very much, will spin the "Heads of State"
  18. This was the first Ornette Coleman album I purchased . I still like it very much.
  19. One of my favourite Max Roach Albums. So great this live Performance with Clifford Jordan, Mal Waldron and Eddie Khan. I purchased this one in 1978, shortly after I had heard Max Roach live.
  20. Two great sessions: On side one you have Roy Eldridge with Flip Phillips, really great, and I Always said that Roy Eldridge was so much ahead of his time, his Generation. He went as far as playing the strictly boppish "Ornithology" Theme on the Outing of "How High the Moon". And "Flip and Jazz" is really hot stuff. The second side is famous mostly for the participation of the great Fats Navarro, but all the others , Allen Eager, Charlie Ventura, Ralph Burns, Bill Harris, Chubby Jackson and Buddy Rich with his great solo on "Sweet Georgia Brown" are also great. I purchased this "America" LP in 1978 and still like it very much.
  21. sounds like a really exiting program. All those great musicians.
  22. A very interesting album, two sessions, one with Bennie Green and Sonny Rollins, Morpheus is quite a strange sounding tune, and the more easy listening set with the tenor tandem Al Cohn Zoot Sims.
  23. one of my favourites
  24. So relaxed ! And one track with Mingus on piano.....
