  1. I wish you could think of another way to phrase that.
  2. I really wish you had posted this earlier.....I've been searching hi & low for a late B'day gift for Tod.
  3. I typed out a lengthy message to a guy this morning..clicked 'send message' and it sort of hung there for a few secs...gasped a little...and then the screen went blank. Not re-typing it...so we'll just shout and hope that he hears it: HEY MR BOARDMEMBER IN NORTHERN EUROPE (not you Hans ) ...I SENT THE STUFF!
  4. I put that disc in my car and have been listening to a continuous loop of 'Freddie Freeloader'. Is that healthy?
  5. Well that's because I only just cracked open the Franziskaner Dunkel Hefe-Weisse and had 3 or 4 sips. Gimme some time.
  6. Hey, back off loser!! ..I've already spent the better part of the day slaving over a hot stove makin' the dang pie!! Just the way he likes it! PARROT PIE Recipe By : Serving Size : 12 Preparation Time : 1:00 Categories : Australian Poultry Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 12 Parakeets * 6 Thin slices of lean beef, 4 4 Rashers of bacon, 3 3 Hard-boiled eggs 1/2 ts Finely chopped parsley 1/4 ts Dried parsley Finely grated lemon peel Salt & pepper Puff paste Flour * Parakeets are a small, long-tailed tropical parrot. Method: Prepare the birds, and truss them like a quail or any other small bird. Line a pie-dish with the beef, over it place 6 of the paraquets, intersperse slices of egg, parsley and lemon-rind, dredge lightly with flour, and season with salt and pepper. Cover with the bacon cut into strips, lay the rest of the birds on the top, intersperse slices of egg, season with salt and pepper, and sprinkle with parsley and lemon-rind as before; three-quarter fill the dish with cold water, cover with puff-paste, and bake in a quick oven. Time: About 2-1/2 hours. SUFFICIENT for about 12 persons. From Mrs. Beeton's All About Cookery, Ward, Lock & Co., Limited, date unknown. Happy B'Day
  7. Hey Tod! Don't look now but Ed's reaching for the 'Piddah'!!!
  8. Chris, who was the VOA jazz man who spun discs for decades and had a huge (tens-of-millions) following throughout the world yet was virtually unknown in the U.S.? He died 5 or 6 years ago....maybe longer.
  9. I'm missing Record #1 from the set. If anyone collected any of the extra lps that Mosaic sold awhile back and is interested in either selling or pulling a trade -- I have a few odds & ends as well (A mint Lp from each of the Hill & Baker/Freeman sets....mint booklets from Fuller, Hill & Baker/Freeman.....and a couple of spare boxes from other sets). A real shot in the dark....but theres gotta be someone out there trying to complete a vinyl box
  10. Hadn't yet hit the 25% Tower sale....so Brubeck it is!!!! They have it listed as Dave Dis Disney + 2.
  11. How's the 'Dave Digs Disney'? The one guy in a cd shop that I asked said 'so-so'.....but it's hard to believe that anything from that era w/Desmond could be 'so-so'?
  12. I surrender!!! Played the disc on two basic systems (Sony CD + Denon amp + 25-year-old recently rebuilt Advent speakers.........and then again on a Sony cheapo DVD/CD unit + Yamaha receiver + the other pair of re-built Advent speakers. Like mmilovan, I'm all played out and can't tell the difference........but just for the heck of it, we'll guess #6 & #7. It was fun though --- thanks Rockefeller Zentrum! So what's the answer, Mr. Wizard?
  13. I kinda liked this 'Letter to the Editor' from a guy in todays Wash Post. "I don't get it. During the Super Bowl, I saw commercials for toilet paper stating that the product was stronger for "your end zone." I saw a commercial where a flatulent horse nearly incinerated a woman. I saw a commercial where a dog was ordered to bite a man's crotch. I was mortified that the kids in our house were watching this. And the irony of it is that a 30-second commercial bringing attention to President Bush's deficit was deemed "inappropriate." I thought that the Federal Communications Commission was created in part to keep trash off the airwaves and to allow the free expression of ideas. As I said, I don't get it. MICHAEL O'BRIEN Dumfries B)
  14. Certainly Couw! Sounds like a good deal.....I'll send it right over! If the disc looks a little 'funny', don't worry....it won't harm your pc -- honestly! B)
  15. Glad you mentioned that Jim. I just received the same message about a Samsung Mobile Office Data Cable Kit.......and an extra $9 shipping to Washington, DC. When I hovered over the link they included, the address was something like Http://Ant.elogic.
  16. Have the 'Green Street' TOCJ in excellent cond. (but no obi) and also a mint 'Live Miles’ (Carnegie Hall) Mastersound mini-lp (SRCS 9320) w/obi. Looking to trade either for TOCJs (Mitchell 'Down With It', Jordan ‘Flight to Jordan’, Henderson 'Our Thing', Dorham 'Trompeta Toccata', Shorter 'JuJu', Clarke 'Golden 8') or certain mini-lps: Junior Mance Trio 'Village Vanguard', Kelly 'Kelly Blue', Coltrane 'Soultrane', Kenny Clarke 'Telefunken Blues' Savoy mini-lp, etc..
  17. I like the pretty picture of the 'cuctus'.
  18. Geez, terrible news! Best of luck! -Rolf
  19. Worth it for someone to move on that one for the extra tracks.....but if this title winds up on the forthcoming Reece 'Select', they should be there.
