  6. at 25 mph i feel like i'm flying. from wilkipedia--- Speed record on a bicycle The record for the fastest speed on a bicycle is the fastest that a person could go on a two wheeled bicycle. The table below shows the records that people have attained while riding bicycles. Name Year Speed Type of record Sam Whittingham 2009 133 km/h (83 mph) Flat surface, unpaced[1] Barbara Buatois 2010 121 km/h (75 mph) Flat surface, unpaced (woman)[1] Fred Rompelberg 1995 268 km/h (167 mph) Flat surface, motor-paced[2] Bruce Bursford 1996 334 km/h (208 mph) Riding on a roller[3] Markus Stöckl 2011 164.95 km/h (102.50 mph) Downhill on a volcano, on a serial production bicycle.[4] Eric Barone 2002 172 km/h (107 mph) Downhill on a volcano, on a prototype bicycle[5] Markus Stöckl 2007 210.4 km/h (130.7 mph) Downhill on snow, on a serial production bicycle[6] Eric Barone 2000 222 km/h (138 mph) Downhill on snow, on a prototype bicycle[7] [edit]History of unpaced records The International Human Powered Vehicle Association (IHPVA) acts as the sanctioning body for new records in human-powered land, water and air vehicles. It registers non motor paced records (also called unpaced) which means that the bicycle directly faces the wind, without any motor paced vehicle in front. On land, the speed record registered by a rider on a 200 meter flying start speed trial is 133.28 km/h (82.82 mph) by the Canadian Sam Whittingham riding the Varna Tempest, a streamliner recumbent bicycle in year 2009[1] at Battle Mountain, Nevada. The woman record holder for this same category was Lisa Vetterlein who reached 107.16 km/h (66.59 mph) in 2005. This record was beaten by the French woman Barbara Buatois when she reached 121.44 km/h (75.46 mph) at Battle Mountain, Nevada in 2009. She subsequently achieved 121.81 km/h (75.69 mph) at the 2010 running of the Battle Mountain event. [edit]History of motor-paced
  7. we must thank the talented sensitive producer and photographer, and kalaprusha, his fine lady, and the musicians for this remarkable loving portrait
  8. in my life, i have several friends like them--i treasure them and wouldn't trade for any.
  9. kalaparush reminds me of several of my friends, people of the streets----fine people.
  10. motian and peacock have recorded a number of trio albums over a long time span with literally dozens of pianists. the main attraction, to me, was almost always the 2.
  11. we suspected this--this puts it in black and white. using several google products, i'm definitely reconsidering,,,,,,
  12. which musical instruments could best be paired with wind turbines to make a nice free jazz recording? i'm sure we'll get a miles and wind turbine recording with some old 6th grade tapes found in the janitor's room at his schoolhouse. but then, frank lowe was so breathy; i would have loved to have heard him tackle the whine of windmills, or whatever they are called. let's hope rova tackles this task.
  13. He'll be 28 in May. How old is that in fat guy years? Years? Still 28. Knees? That remains to be seen... i've been asserting the 'fatman' issue, with absolutely no success, concerning cc for 7 years.
  14. sweet!!! during a thrift store vinyl hunt last week, i saw a lady pick up some vintage 8-tracks.
  15. the trouble with the newish devices is that they are old and obsolete when you buy or learn to use them.
  16. show us your creativity and imagination. i use a very simple rca pearl TH 1702 and carry with me a 500 gig ext. toshiba drive of my home recordings and thousands of hours of jazz shows and several current recordings of financial and electronics shows. i wouldn't recognize or need an ipod if i found one.

  18. i heard distressing news today that the ny giants targetted kick returner kyle williams because he had had 4 previous concussions and would be easy to knock out of the game. this quote, of course, will be 'misquoted' and 'inaccurate.' this comment came from the giants fumble recovery man devon thomas.
  19. isn't this halo painted on an outdoor work going a wee tad far?
  20. actually 5.1. now that you mentioned it.
  21. i enjoy watching football most in solitude, with the redundant sound, commercials, and captions mute. that way, i can soak in the beauty, irony, joy, and tragedy of the games, the magnificent athletes, and the fallibility of split second decisions made by very competitive young men in the heat of battle. i disdain crowds and the noise of athletic events.
  22. plus the place kicker ran really late out onto the field. he couldn't get his pants off or something. i wonder whar the raveies were saving their timeouts for? what don't you like about the g-men?
  23. What am I missing here? That's been a trusted source for forgetting a bad day. Or celebrating a good one. i'm heading for my fav taphouse for some pharmaceutical forgetting, i forget about what. in fact, i'm getting steamed.
