Well, number one, it increases all costs for both you and your assistants.
And, I think it puts us on that slippery slope to the Organissimo Box Set Blindfold Test
But seriously, I do think that a line should be drawn somewhere, and keeping things to a single disc forces the compiler to make choices and review and re-review the choices and I think that's a good thing.
The costs would be all mine. All assistants would be reimbursed.
The reason I ask, is that I havw a LOT of good BT test material that runs in the 9-12 minute range, and could do a really good job with a 90 minute or so test. But if the desire is to keep it to a single disc, I can certainly stay within that parameter. I got stuff that works that way too.
I remembered this one:
Bring it on! Give the people what you want them to hear!I'd agree with your other self and say it's up to you!

after all the great reactions here, of course I couldn't resist and had to make some more...
Claude wanted me to throw the stone through Hubbard's Breaking Point glass pane. Of course it wasn't a stone...
to have a better (larger look): Freddie Hubbard - Breaking Point (405 Kb)
and Rooster Tom wanted Andrew Hill animated and got a wink from Jeff. Now that one had me crippled laughing. I had a more moody idea for the Judgment! cover. Sort of like Hill in Gotham City...
That one was a damn effort to make, so please take a look at it in it's full glory: Andrew Hill - Judgment (410 Kb)
the Lou Takes Off I made wasn't that good. So I sat down and re-did it:
Lou Donaldson - Lou Takes Off (520 Kb)
Sticking with Lou, here he is walking his Blues Walk:
Now that one wasn't easy either, with the damn trees in the background... Lou Donaldson - Blues Walk

Jazzdog,
Here's your avatar.
It's subtle, but Hank's blowin'.
Look like the Hankster has to go pee.
exactly what I was thinking
Hank looks more like than like

Jeff, those "crossovers" are hilarious! Only thing missing is a whistle tone from James T Kat

the weirdest thing about that is that your friend must apparantly at one point in time have thought... hmmm, what will it be for Halloween this year? Something to really scare all them kids off.... I know, let's go as a redneck, I'll have my hair .... blahblah....
SCARY friends you have !

Will Parkertown trade his trusty avatar for its new-'n'-improved incarnation?
Will become ?
Stay tuned and find out soon!

The 2000 issues were also listed as unavailable. Those available at amazon.de have been issued in april this year. I'll try and find some samples of these or otherwise order them just for the heck of it.

take yr. clothes off when you dance as a bossa nova.
definitely!
there's a nice version in this vein on the lost episodes CD as I recall

I am in AW (as in: "Aw, I wish I could do that"). Seriously, these are fantastic. Any way of enlarging them? Greedy request, I know...
I have larger versions, I made these avatar sized to have yet another restraint considering picture and file size. The originals are from that Japanese BN vinyl cover site and are appr. 500 pixels square and several Kbytes. I'd be happy to share them, but I don't have them with me now. I'll bring them along.
...and so I did. I uploaded larger versions of most of these on my lycos webspace. Please note that these are quite a lot larger! Some are really optimated for small size and look a bit quirky this big.
JacMac - Action! (200 Kb)
JacMac - Destination Out (140 Kb)
Dexter Gordon - Gettin' Around (270 Kb)
Freddie Hubbard - Hubcap (240 Kb)
Larry Young - Into Something (170 Kb)
Milt Jackson (100 Kb)
Horace Parlan - Speakin' my Piece (160 Kb)
Sonny Rollins - Volume 1 (290 Kb)
Hank Mobley - The Flip (580 KB [!!!])
-
according to amazon.de these have been reissued earlier this year on the Egea label (distributed by SunnyMoon in Europe).

here's another take on the Rollins. I focussed more on the ROLL part of the name with this one

HO ho ho...I keep waiting for Mr. Hill to wink at me!
This is FUN!!!!
the wink is almost sickening. brilliant!

(But where's the Turtle Wax? )
IT'S BAKED IN! (you know)

thanks for the compliments everyone -_-
Claude,
no, I am a scientist (really trust me... )
This graphic design stuff is a passtime and the animation my hobby-du-jour.

mike you move faster than any machine it seems!
yet another one:
while making this one I got much better ideas, maybe I'll work some more on it.

DON"T STOP!!!

Nice work, John!
:rsmile:
hey, I meant YOU, when I wrote "animation KING" in the initial post! So roll up those sleeves and start working!

This is probably a dumb question but how the heck do you do that. Thought the Milt one was really neat.
On how to do this: it's easy! You preferably need photoshop w/ ImageReady installed. There are other gif-animation programmes out there, but photoshop integrates the animation function with the coolest photo edit programme around. Then you need a lot of time... I can tell you: the idea is the EASY part, the execution can be really cumbersome.
Like with the Milt cover: I had to extract each of the little balls and animate it seperately. Pity you hardly notice that in the resulting gif. The reconstruction of the background image can also be a drag (like w/ the Dexter, the Young, and the Milt).
You simply make a lot of layers, each with a frame or a part of it. ImageReady lets you pick the layers you want to display, for how long, and in what order. I only really learned how to do this recently and this exercise is definitely good to improve one's skills

Hans, may I make Horace my new avatar?
Pretty please?
PJ
Peter: go ahead! These are for sharing, so if anyone wants to have one as an avatar, I'd be really honoured. It's John BTW, not Hans, that's that other dude from the Netherlands... :rsly:

Inspired in part by the BN Screensaver and by a lazy weekend, I spend some time with photoshop and a collection of BN covers and came up with some animated covers. I hope my output will inspire others here on the board. I know there are some true animation kings among us. So let's have a ball!
I like this one, but as an avatar, it belongs to Parkertown
I never took the effort of inverting this great pic until now.
my new avatar:
my favorite "funny one":
not very satisfied with this one:
the very first one I made:
you will buy this record.... you will buy this record...

...and don't forget! you get a special promo-only play-backward message from satan! Interesting to note that the "ROAST BEAST DOES NOT SELL BOOTLEGS, C-DRs, RECORD CLUB ISSUES, or FAKES/COPIES!" apparantly selling promos is of an entirely different order...

Love that avatar, couw. Very reminiscent of the BN screen saver.
Thanks!
It was a lazy weekend. I did a whole bunch. This one's for Parkertown:
Sonny Rollins

I am unearthing this ancient thread because I recently got the Sonny Rollins Vol. 1 in its latest RVG incarnation. I have been spinning this one on auto-repeat this whole morning and must say I am awed. There isn't much I could say that hasn't been said already about Rollins's playing and probably also about this album. But damn I LOVE it! These guys really gel, there isn't much to criticise and a way too much to praise on this album. Highlights for me are the exchanges between Rollins and Roach and the ballad "Glocca Morra."
I actually thought they were playing "(I'm in love with a) Strong Man" until I read on the back it's Glocca Morra. What gives? Same song? Very similar? My bad memory?
One thing I noticed considering the packaging: it looks spiffy and cool and has a nice gloss, but .... isn't this supposed to be like this ?
Is this yet another fluke of the Krypton Prroof Readers and Korrektion department?
(come to speak of that: I also noted that a recording date is given for song #7 on indestrubtible )
