From Sony/Legacy's website:" Kenny's new album, "I'm In The Mood For Love – The Most Romantic Melodies Of Album Time"
what's "Album Time"?
-
but sounds like you and the rhinoceri will be on even terms then.
this is not the right time to make jokes about the poor man's nose!
-
previous discussion, including a list of releases.
-
BTW: I wonder how they did this - with mirrors? Monk sitting in a corner of mirrors?
Two mirrors at an angle slightly less than 90°.
You can try it at home!

these wind machines are by Theo Jansen
another dutch guy, Gerrit van Bakel has been building moving artwerks/machines that, instead of the fast wind, use the energy of day/night, summer/winter, dry/wet changes. His Tarim machine is made to move 18mm per day and designed to cross the Tarim basin (Takla Makan desert) in 36 million years. So the old man will have to tell his grandson to tell his grandson to move the house a little as the machine will be passing by in a couple of centuries.

You're quite right with your name-dropping... but the difficulty is to attach the right names to the wrong tunes...
hmm, right name, wrong title... let's see... track 4 is by W. 'M.' Ng. and titled "roaring Bullfrog", track 12 is by the B.N.'s and titled "Purple Andrew", track 13 is the A.J.P.'s and titled "don't look!"
or did you have something different in mind?

As I will be away next week and need to take care of some things before I leave, I doubt I will be able to post detailed comments, but just a few jots here to leave my general impression. Which is good. This is nice & lively stuff, some of it more high-life than jazz, some of it a bit "primitive" in theme or execution, and some of it too smooth to convey its deeper joy to me. Anyhow, my guess is that the theme is South African jazz with Ibrahim on several tracks and I think Dudu is there and the Blue Notes and Kippie and whom have you. Good and enjoyable disk all in all, so here's to hoping I do find the time to make some detailed comments soon.

also on this album recorded in Italy
is that the same as "Buddy Collette in Italy", w/ Valdambrini, Basso & Azzolini?
Very good one that.

If I can find a way to post a photo, I will.

The question is: Why isn't this stuff available here directly from Universal?
Sort of like saying, "I like cocaine. Why isn't the local pharmacy allowed to stock it? If they aren't allowed to sell it, I will get it from the people who do sell it."
you mean there is a law that forbids Universal to re-issue this?

should you wonder how Jon Eardley shed his white skin, the story about this cover is posted here

I admit I didn't expect what happened here:

I meant, what's the thing the feet are standing beside?
MG
No idea! Your guess would be as good as mine!
looks like the stringless innards of a piano

But I think I prefer the Radio Citizen material.
some webbrowsing allowed me to listen to the first track as well as Mondlicht; cool bassline on the latter!
-
my first impression was a cross between Billie, Neneh Cherry and Róisín Murphy (of Moloko fame).
Bonobo's music is a bit like a John Lurie movie soundtrack that went through a cimputer.
here's one of the 4 tracks featuring Bajka: click.
-
I only know the Bonobo. With your recently acquired taste for the elektro scene, you'll probably like this one. She's not world famous in entire Germany or anything. Actually, I didn't even notice whom you were talking about until I saw the Bonobo listed.

Cool album cover!
I think it's silly really. So silly that it's cool again, but still silly.
The album or the cover?

some dudes with many consonants and funny letters:
Iancsi Körössy
Andrzej Trzaskowski
Krzysztof Komeda
and in honour of his recent death and also because he's da shit if you find him playing piano:
Andrzej Kurylewicz
there's more but with less consonants and funny letters.
