All I get constantly is this: "We apologize for the temporary connection delay. Please click the refresh button on your browser." Plus, it takes about three times a s long to load. Sucks so far.

Hi everyone, I stumbled across an offer for a 3CD-box set entitled Tommy Dorsey, "The Legend", supposably a limited ed. re-issue from Japan, no year listed. Has anyone ever heard of this one? Any comments? Cheers!

French "RCA/BMG Jazz Tribune" series ...
neveronfriday replied to neveronfriday's topic in Re-issues
When the work on the Basie site is completed, I'm intending to put a list together of these Jazz Archive discs. There's a treasure trove of stuff on these which I'm just discovering. If you know ehere to look, you can get lots of them for 5 - 15 Euro. Not bad for double-CDs, even if they're a bit older. Cheers! -

French "RCA/BMG Jazz Tribune" series ...

I'm surprised not more people have any of these CDs. They are still widely available second-hand if you know where to look. A few years back, they were virtually everywhere. Could it be that many board members maybe had these once and later replaced them with single CD re-issues or collectors boxes? Cheers! -
Looking for some more Lionel Hampton stuff, I stumbled across three double CDs that I bought and am quite happy with: The Complete Lionel Hampton (Vols. 1/2, 3/4 and 5/6) These were issued by BMG France in the 90s (double CDs with a fold-out newspaper-like booklet) and I have seen others from this series around my stomping grounds from time to time. From the numbering system I would conclude that there must be anywhere between 80 and 100 and more of these out there. Do you have any of these? Happy with them? Cheers!

AOW, March 21-28: Hank Jones, Upon Reflection
neveronfriday replied to Nate Dorward's topic in Album Of The Week
Yep. One of the great grunters. -
Got my disk today, courtesy of John, and I'm intrigued. Some of the more modern stuff is not my cup of tea, but there's a lot of piano stuff on here that I really dig. And track 14 really cracked me up. Reminds me of a disk I have ... will have to check that out. For now, thanks for providing the soundtrack for a sh*tload of work I have to do. I'll try to get back to this thread on the weekend. Cheers!

I'm sure this one can, err, magically be moved? Nice site, BTW. Cheers!

I know she's been mentioned around this board on and off, but I just wanted to give a big thumbs up ( ) to her CD "Jessica's Blues". Fine playing and obviously one fine but underrated player. Damn, some of this stuff is good. Cheers!

European Board Members Meeting
neveronfriday replied to rockefeller center's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I would think English will be the language of choice. And anyone can order a beer by pointing and grunting. That's how we Germans do it. Cheers! [Any wine drinkers coming? Or am I going to be the only one? [alternative: gin tonic etc.]] P.S.: The whole thing will be on a weekend, won't it? I think I can make it on practically any weekend from late Friday afternoon until Sunday, later evening. -

Darmstadt sounds cool. How about we meet and launch the Basie site? And yes, I'd be more for a place other than a youth hostel. After all, we have to party in style. Cheers! [P.S.: I need 1 hour to Darmstadt from where I am]. -
Marlon Brando has died
neveronfriday replied to ghost of miles's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I absolutely agree. Me too. Absolutely. One of the true greats. But the question remains which company to go to for the coffin. Was he still that huge when he died? Cheers! -
The Dinah Washington Roulette sessions might get me back on board, although I vowed never to go for Mosaic stuff again. How long did that last? One month? Cheers!

Up. Sooner than you think ... Cheers!

257 notifications. That's all? Hm. Cheers!

Absolutely right. The bullshit factor is rising constantly. It was embarrassing enough to just mute the TV and put on some Thad Jones. Went well with the Portuguese moves ... Cheers!

Portugal could have easily been leading 4:0. Nice first half.

I've also been closely following this story. Sometimes I wish - although things are a whole lot better here - that our students here in Germany would have the guts to do what Tiffany did. Somehow our educational system is teaching too many kids to put up with what's wrong or shut up. Dissatisfaction with the system is rampant, but it's only talked about behind closed doors (or on the political plain, on which it is watered down to easily consumable [empty] slogans for the public). And, our current government isn't actually helping one single bit with its completely erratic policy which is aimed at curing the symptoms and not the disease. Cheers! -
Yes. Yes. Yes! Thanks for that one, Kevin. It can't be repeated often enough! Cheers!
