  1. Ed Cherry - The Spirits Speak
  2. I don't recall amyone mentioning the delightful album of Al Cohn and James Moody together on the MPS label
  3. My personal taste primarily oriented to jazz from the 40's, 50's and 60's leads me to prefer Charlie Mariano's playing on his albums from those years. Though I don't care for most of his later sessions. There are a few exceptions including the two albums with Tete Montoliu, and the excellent "Deep In A Dream"
  4. This comparison speaks volumes for me. The Roland Hanna swings, has depth, and is an interesting album. The Noah Haidu lacks all 3 of the things mentioned above. Buster Williams is the one saving grace, but is not (in my opinion), able to save this basically very dull album.
  5. Very sorry to hear of the passing of Al Foster. He was a really fine drummer. Glad I had the opportunity to see him live.
  6. The Freddie Roach -"All That's Good" is available as a download on the Apple site.
  7. I generally prefer early Art Pepper. However, there are some things by late Art Pepper that I definitely like. One of my favorite Art Pepper albums is this one:
  8. Dick Morrissey was a damn good jazz tenor sax player.
  9. Beethoven - Op.59/2 Dvorak - No.12
  10. Emilie Mayer - String Quartet No.4 - Klenke Quartet Gade - String Quartet in F Major - Leipziger Quartet
  11. Very sorry to hear this sad news. John Marshall was one of my favorite living jazz trumpet players. Contrary to what Kevin said, Marshall recorded quite a few times under his own name. I just checked and found I have 9 CDs with John Marshall as leader or co-leader. Six of them are on the Origin label. One on the Mons label, one on the Blue Jack label, and one on the VSOP label. There are also a number of small group recordings with Marshall as a sideman.
