Blue Mitchell, Joe Henderson, Ernie Watts, Walter Bishop Jr., Stanley Gilbert, Doug Sides This album is basically disappointing to me. A couple of tracks I like, with good solos by the horns and the piano.But most of the tracks are not to my taste. Those are the tracks where Bishop plays a tinny sounding electric piano and Sisaye Green sings obligatory vocals behind the music that I find terrible.

Tchaikovsky - String Quartet No.2 & Souvenier De Florence

I am finding many CDs on the Concord label that I find that I like very much. This is one of them.

I like this session quite a lot. Smulyan is in top form, pianist Pete Malinverni fits well and plays fine solos. Drummer Matt Wilsom is truly wonderful. His playing is highly creative and joyful. The vocals by Anais Reno were just ok, and I would have been happy had she not been included on this album (your opinion may differ).

Soulnote recommended this album over the one with Starker and Buchbinder. I find both to be very good. Without listening to them both side by side, it is difficult for me to say I prefer one over the other.
