  6. My early years as a serious jazz listener had me imersed in stacks of Blue Note and Prestige LPs recorded by Rudy. He was highly influential in my jazz education.
  7. "The Man I Love"session on Progressive is a very good one. I am not home so am unable to check, but do not believe that Dick Meldonian was on that date.
  8. Sorry to hear this. Louis Smith recorded some fine music for Blue Note and Steeplechase. He was a sideman with Horace Siver for a short peiod. If I remember correctly, he was a faculty member at The University of Michigan for a number of years. R.I.P.

  12. Though Spohr may not be in the same league as Beethoven and some of the other "greats', I am a big fan of his. Especially his string quartets, string quintets, and clarinet concertos.

  15. I have the Sam Jones CD, and had the LP when it was first released quite a number of years ago. With favorites such as Barry Harris, Blue Mitchell , Louis Hayes,and the leader Sam Jones, this one is a definite winner in my book. Just played it again yesterday afternoon.
