  1. Could anyone confirm that this boxed set was released in 1995? Thanks in advance!
  2. Yeah! Prez, Hampton, Chu Berry... there I go!
  3. David: Chris opened a previous discussion here.
  4. On the other hand, it's Dat Dere.
  5. From the BMI online database: This Here
  6. David: I'd take the Teagarden and the Bix if you'd ship outside the US!
  7. I am looking for: -François Rilhac - Megalo Piano Stride (Black & Blue LP 12": 33214) - no CD reissue to my knowledge -François Rilhac - Thank's A Million (Jazzophile-Jazztrade CD) - it is listed at fnac.com but it is NOT on stock (I hate those stores that don't update their online store for months!) If you have a copy, please contact me off-list at ekebbbapg@yahoo.es Regards, Agustín
  8. Sure! Other current players who can play some good stride: Bernd Lhotzky Louis Mazetier Chris Hopkins Rossano Sportiello Tom Roberts Neville Dickie Paul Asaro John Sheridan Oliver Lancelot Jeff Barnhart and, of course, old master Dick Hyman!!!
  9. If anybody has Euphonic LP 12": 1226 - Kings Of Harlem Stride (recordings by Stephen 'The Beetle' Henderson, Donald Lambert, James P. Johnson & Fats Waller), please contact me off-list at ekebbbapg@yahoo.es Thanks in advance! Agustín
  10. And yes, there is a marked Eastwood Lane influence in Bix's piano compositions!
  11. Both Bernd Lhotzky and Rossano Sportiello have recorded several Eastwood Lane pieces, solo piano. In his highly recommendable disc for Arbors, "Piano Portrait", Lhotzky recorded a very tasty version of "Adirondack Sketches" (six pieces). Sportiello has also played a few Lane pieces. IIRC, in his disc on Jazz Connaisseur Swiss label, "Piano On My Mind", he included "Down Stream" from "Adirondack Sketches". And I tend to remember there are more (I will check my collection later).
  12. 12 new leader entries have been added.
  13. JSP948 "Fats Waller, Volume 4. 1936–1938 New York–Chicago–Hollywood" (2007) – 4 x CD box set, continuing from JSP946, with complete commercial recordings from Mx. 0339-1 "S'posin'" from 9 September 1936 to Mx. 022436-2 "Inside (This Heart Of Mine)", including the previously unissued alternate Take-1 of "Big Business" (Parts 1 & 2) (p 184-185), left over from JSP928.
  14. 51 new "leader" entries have been listed. This makes 225 total. The new Leader Discographies include names, from the better-known like Kenny Dorham, Hal McKusick, Cecil Payne, and Charles Tolliver to the unknown like Peter Lemer, David Mack, Ramon Morris, and Ollie Shearer. And many young players such as Byars, Eubanks, Frahm, and Willey. As expected, quite a few corrections to the standard discographies - missing sessions, missing tunes, wrong titles, wrong issues, etc.
  15. Could anyone who owns a copy confirm that release date for the original Blue Labor LP is 1974 (recording date is April 17 & 18, 1974)? Thanks in advance!
  16. Got a sense of déjà vu...
  17. This video is really fun, but not representative of his recorded style, as he doesn't usually abuse of his amazing technique. He is not the kind of showy or flashy player, but a wonderful and very complete pianist.
  18. Maybe he should have posted it on "You Porn" OK. You asked for it. Pay attention, in a few minutes I will upload a video showing my collection of yellow shorts! :rsmile:
  19. Look at this item recently appeared on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...rksid=p3907.m29 Starting bid at: $500.00 30 seconds sound sample on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0L_uQ2eEpAE
  20. I heartily agree with jazzbo and Stereojack on this set's sound quality.
  21. I have that Marty Grosz date. A fine disc, and I really enjoy Frank Chace's playing there. Sorry to hear about his passing. R.I.P.
  22. I definitely paid a lot more than three bucks!
  23. So far I like the couple of George Wein discs I have, and I am a Pee Wee Russell completist, so... there goes my money!
  24. Joe: I'm afraid at this moment there's no trace of this disc at amazon.fr or parisjazzcorner, which are the most reliable sources for Masters of Jazz CDs. But you can check there from time to time, as it may appear. Good luck! (so far I only have volumes 1&2 from those Young Bird series on MoJ)
